Export Accompanying Document

With effect from 01.07.2009, the written export procedure using the Single Administrative Document will be fully replaced by the electronic export procedure based on ATLAS, the German customs administration system.

All shipments worth EUR 1,000 or more which are declared with ATLAS are automatically presented to German Customs by DHL Express. Shipments worth less than EUR 1,000 do not require an export declaration with ATLAS. Exception: The value of goods being sent to one recipient or the value of goods sent to a destination country in one day amounts to more than EUR 1,000.

Please ensure that all shipments declared with ATLAS are handed over with the appropriate Export Accompanying Document (EAD), which must be printed out when the item is declared with ATLAS.

The Movement Reference Number (MRN) Infobutton (As of 1 July 2009, the export declaration for shipments worth EUR 1000 or more destined for a non-EU country must be carried out electronically with Customs using ATLAS. During the electronic export declaration process you receive an Export Accompanying Document in PDF format with an MRN and a barcode. The MRN is the customs registration number that enables customs officials to identify and handle your export process in ATLAS) should be entered on the air waybill. For companies who export small or moderate quantities of goods, the following options are available:

• Since January 2011 we offer the new Automated Export Declaration Service (AES) to our customers. AES provides the opportunity to arrange the
