"What exactly does this mean for you?"
- The supplement is levied on the net price of the shipment - i.e. only on the basic price based on the weight. This applies for national express shipments and international DHL ECONOMY SELECT shipments.
- Additional fees are not subject to supplements.
- The fuel supplement varies and is recalculated once a month. As fuel costs fall, the supplement will reduce or be eliminated altogether.
- The supplement is indicated on the invoice and is listed separately for each affected shipment.
The basis for the fuel supplement applicable in the following month is the weighted average (EURO countries) of the consumer price of diesel in the EUROLD Oil Bulletin (including taxes and duties) in the last week of the previous month. This is published in the Oil Bulletin of the European Commission, DG Energy and Transport on the Internet at http://ec.europa.eu/energy/observatory/oil/bulletin_en.htm
An example: In the last week of May 2010, the weighted average of the diesel price EG EUROLD was 1,157.92 for 1,000 litres of diesel. Consequently, the fuel supplement in July 2010 was 4.5%. (see the table entitled "Progress of the fuel supplement").
The fuel supplement is tiered in 0.5% steps and is set each month in accordance with the following table.
