DHL Paket International

In the event of loss or damage, DHL will be responsible for the material value of the content** within the framework of legal liability set down by the Universal Postal Union (UPU):

• 40 SDR (Special Drawing Rights) per parcel plus 4.5 SDR per kilo
• 1 SDR = EUR 1.12461***

The maximum liability on DHL Paket items using the Premium service is EUR 500.

You can arrange for your parcel to be picked up by franking with DHL Online Franking.

You can choose from the following pick-up options:

• arrange for your parcel to be picked up at a date of your choosing. Your parcel can be picked-up between Monday and Saturday, generally between 8am-8pm. Each pick-up costs EUR 3. The pick-up service is free for four shipments or more per basket.
• arrange for your parcel to be picked up within a specified time window. Your parcel can be picked up between Monday and Saturday within a specified time window. Pick-up with fixed time window service costs EUR 6 per pick-up.

You can also easily arrange for franked parcels to be picked up at your convenience.

Climate-friendly shipping of your parcel can be requested exclusively when you frank it via DHL Online Franking.

The cash on delivery service enables you to ensure that the recipient only receives the DHL PAKET once he has paid a sum specified by you (e.g. the material value of the contents). The cash on delivery sum obtained will be transferred to your nominated account. You can obtain the transfer voucher for this in your branch.

The maximum permissible cash on delivery sum varies from country to country, and the service is not available for all destinations. For more information on each individual country, please visit our country pages.

Postbank reserves the right to retain a delivery charge of EUR 5 from the cash on delivery sum if the correct account information (BIC/IBAN) has not been provided for international shipments.

DHL PAKET International with Premium service take priority and are always transported to the destination country by the fastest means possible. The Premium service also includes up to EUR 500 liability.

If you wish to send a shipment in roll format, you will require a roll stamp.
The roll stamp can be obtained in your branch and in the DHL Shop.

Shipments that exceed the specified dimensions or weight must be sent as bulky items. A roll stamp is no longer required in such cases.

Bulky goods are those shipments that:

• in square form exceed the maximum dimensions of a DHL PAKET (120 x 60 x 60 centimetres);
  
• in a roll shape, weigh more than 5 kilograms or exceed a length of 120 centimetres or a diameter of 15 centimetres or
  
• exhibit unusual packaging characteristics (e.g. no cardboard packaging, wrapped in foil or plastic, with protruding / jutting parts or uneven surfaces).

You can obtain bulky goods stamps from your nearest branch and from the DHL Shop.

Before sending your parcel, specify what should happen if your shipment cannot be delivered in the destination country. To do this, please tick the sender's instructions directly on the waybill for your DHL PAKET International:

a) Return to sender (Renvoyer à l'expéditeur)If your DHL PAKET International cannot be delivered to the recipient in the destination country, it will be returned. The type of return transport will be determined by the postal company in the recipient country:

• Return via road transport: EUR 10.00 (generally used for return deliveries from European countries)
  
• Return via air transport: EUR 20.00 (generally used for return deliveries from non-European countries)

The fee is only levied if your DHL PAKET International is actually returned.

b) Abandon (Traiter comme abandonné)
If your DHL PAKET International cannot be delivered, it will not be returned to you, but rather auctioned off or sold by the recipient country's postal company. You will not be charged anything for this.

The international value parcel service enables you to agree increased liability for your DHL PAKET International. DHL PAKET International shipments with international value parcel service are carried separately and with extra security. Please also read our notes on permissible values.
