DHL recipient service - Preferred location

Identify a concealed place on your property where we can leave and/or pick up your parcel if you're not in. This will enable us to deliver or pick up your shipments even if you're not at home.

How it works

1. Register at

Simply register free of charge at Are you already registered at or Packstation? Then simply log in on the right in the grey login area.


2. Define your preferred location

In your profile, you can enable the preferred location service and define the preferred place where you'd like us to leave / pick up your parcel.

Please note that your chosen preferred location must:

  • Be on your property
  • Not be visible to third parties and not be freely accessible
  • Be dry and protected from the weather

3. Ordering parcels

When ordering parcels to your home address, always specify your PostNumber if you wish to receive an e-mail and/or SMS message regarding the delivery of your shipment to your preferred location.

4. Having a parcel picked up

To have your parcels picked up, simply submit a pick-up request and enter your pick-up address. If you have agreed a preferred location with us, we will automatically pick your parcels up from there if you are not in.


5. Drop-off at the preferred location

If you are not at home when the delivery agent calls, your shipment will be left at or picked up from the agreed preferred location.


6. Notification

You will receive an e-mail and/or SMS message telling you that you will find your shipment at the preferred location if your PostNumber is included on the parcel's label. In any event, the delivery agent will put a notification card in your letterbox.
