Order and ship early

This year we are expecting a particularly sharp spike in parcel volumes as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. To make sure that the Christmas season is the most wonderful time of the year, we are doing everything in our power to ensure that your Christmas parcels and mail are delivered on time. With this in mind, we have already expanded our Packstation network in Germany to over 6,500 sites and will have 10,000 more employees on board by the end of the year. As the Official Partner to Father Christmas, we will do everything we can to deliver your Christmas greetings to your loved ones by the big day.

5 Golden Rules for your Christmas parcels

  • Order and send your gifts in good time and make sure they are packaged securely.
  • Pick up your parcels as soon as possible from the retail outlet or Packstation.
  • Use DHL preferred delivery (Wunschzustellung): arrange a drop-off location, specify a preferred neighbor or have your parcels sent directly to a Packstation.
  • Buy your shipping labels online or in the DHL app. All from the comfort of your own home.
  • Returns and parcels can simply be dropped off at a Packstation. Contactlessly, with no registration or waiting required

Sending presents in time for Christmas

Send Christmas parcels - easily & conveniently

You now no longer even need a printer to send your Christmas parcels!

Here’s how easy it is to ship with DHL:

  • Simply buy your parcel stamps online or in the DHL Paket app, which will let you enjoy savings compared to the usual retail outlet prices.
  • Print out your label yourself or present the QR code to one of our delivery agents, at a Packstation or at a retail outlet, and have your label printed off there free of charge.
  • Did you know that you can send parcels easily and contactlessly at a Packstation without prior registration? Simply scan the parcel stamp or the QR code and place your parcel in the designated compartment. If the Packstation doesn’t have a printer, the delivery agent will create the label for you when they pick up the parcel from the Packstation.

Use DHL services for the delivery of your Christmas parcels

This year, the coronavirus has brought many changes. But one thing is certain: DHL will be delivering your Christmas parcels the way you prefer, just as it always does. To make the delivery of your parcels as effortless as possible - and at the same time ease the burden on our delivery teams, why not make use of our free preferred delivery services:

  • For example, book a drop-off location free of charge - this can also be used if you have items to be picked up.
  • Pick up your items promptly to make room for your next parcel at the retail outlet or Packstation and to ensure that other customers can use those services too.
  • Take advantage of contactless delivery and shipping at more than 6,000 Packstations.

DHL Produkte Weihnachten 2020

When sending letters, small packages (Päckchen) and parcels, it is important to ensure that the address and sender are complete and clearly legible and that the correct zip code is displayed on the outside. Please use the dispatch notes/labels provided by Deutsche Post DHL for the sender and recipient details on your small packages and parcels.
When addressing small packages and parcels, you should also make sure that you use the street address with street name and house number, not the P.O. box address.

Parcels and small packages must always be packaged securely both inside and outside. Ideally use a sturdy cardboard box, add plenty of cushioning and void fill material and then seal it well. Parcels should not be tied with string or a ribbon as this may cause them to get stuck during automated processing. Used packaging with old adhesive address or barcode labels is not suitable for dispatch either. DHL Packsets can be used instead: these sturdy shipping boxes come in various sizes and are also available with a Christmas design - making them ideal for sending gifts - from Deutsche Post retail outlets.

To ensure that your gifts are under the tree in time, we recommend ordering and sending gifts well before Christmas. The last posting date for domestic parcels and small packages is Saturday, December 19, 2020, 12 noon. For letters and postcards, the latest possible posting date is Tuesday, December 22, 2020, before collection.

National express shipments can be posted until (the express office) closing time on the 23rd December 2020.
