How much is my package allowed to weigh and what's special about sending pallets? How do I calculate the volumetric weight?

PALLET - YES OR NO?
All Express shipments have to be packed or palletized for transport safely. Packaging has to enclose all goods completely. This applies to pallets aswell. Find more informations in our packing tips.
- DHL Express generally doesn't accept shipments with more than a total weight of 3.000 kg or any measurement exceeding 300 cm.
- Packages weighing 30 kg or more must be delivered on a load carrier that can be driven under and with a loading aid.
- Shipments exceeding 70 kg have to be palletized (Euro or disposable pallet) and loaded with loading aid. Please take into consideration that some countries may have different import regulations.
- Pallets are part of the shipment and will add into weight determination.
- We reserve the right to repalletize shipments that were not handed over properly and invoice them accordingly. This also applies to all import shipments that are invoiced in Germany.
VOLUMETRIC WEIGHT
The price of your shipment does not necessarily depend on its actual weight, but on the amount of space its pieces require (volumetric weight). It may happen that a shipment with light, but large pieces is more expensive than one with heavy but small pieces.
The calculation of your freight cost depends on the higher weight: Is the volumetric weight higher than the real weight, the volumetric weight is used. Is the real weight higher than the volumetric weight, the real weight is used for calculation.
