FAQ

For DHL parcels booked via DHL online franking, a digital posting receipt is automatically sent to the sender's e-mail address after it has been dropped off at the branch, parcel shop or one of our delivery staff. The sender email address given at the time of label purchase will be used. The time and place of delivery are documented in the digital posting recipt, and there is also a direct link to the shipment tracking for this item. Please note that for technical reasons, sending the digital posting receipt by e-mail can take up to 60 minutes.

Please note: As an alternative to a proof of posting, you can also use the order confirmation from online franking in combination with the posting event in the shipment tracking system to prove that the shipment was posted. If you would still like to have an additional proof of posting printed out at the branch, please point this out to the branch employee when you hand in your item.

Thank you for your feedback.

To receive a digital posting receipt, the e-mail address of the person posting (sender) must be included and sent to us in the shipment data.

  • DHL Paket business customers: Business customers must enter the sender's e-mail address when parcels are being prepared for shipping. This can be done using the "Versenden" (send) function on the Post & DHL Business Customer Portal or an EDI interface (in-house programmers).
  • DHL Retoure Online: The e-mail address of the original recipient (who is now the sender) must be entered when returns are being prepared for shipping. This can be done using the e-mail or customer e-mail field or, for in-house programmer business customers, an EDI interface.
  • Parcels franked with DHL online franking: The sender's e-mail address is requested by default, meaning that no additional information has to be included.

In principle, any customer (private or business) can use this service. The only requirement is to enter the e-mail address of the posting customer when the shipment is franked. That way the address is included in the shipment data (PAN data). You can receive the new digital posting receipt only for individual shipments that have been posted at a retail outlet or a parcel shop or handed over to a courier. And for shipments posted at a Packstation, after entering the e-mail address you will receive a digital receipt.

A digital posting receipt is available only for shipments with shipment tracking (e.g., not for Päckchen/small packages). This includes parcels that have been franked online (service not available for items with postage purchased at a retail outlet), online returns and parcels posted as individual items by business customers (e.g., no Warenpost (merchandise mail)).

The digital posting receipt is an additional service. You will continue to receive a paper posting receipt when you hand over items at a retail outlet or a parcel shop or to a courier.
