General Information according to § 36 of the German Law about alternative dispute resolution (VSBG):
If consumers contact the Federal Network Agency to initiate a mediation process regarding disputes about rights and obligations in cases of loss, theft, or damage of postal items, or regarding violations of the rights set out in Section 34 (1) of the Postal Act (PostG), Deutsche Post AG/DHL Paket GmbH is obliged to participate in the mediation procedure.
Prerequisite for calling the consumer arbitration board is a previous unsuccessful attempt to settle the dispute between the consumer and Deutsche Post AG and DHL Paket GmbH themselves.
