SURCHARGES
In order to constantly maintain our high service levels, surcharges apply for certain services.
DANGEROUS GOODS
- Dangerous goods declared according to current IATA-DGR for passenger aircraft and exemptions according to ADR 1.1.3.4 (LQ & EQ)
- Dangerous goods for road transport according to ADR 1.1.3.4 and 1.1.3.9
- Dry Ice (UN1845)
- Lithium Batteries according to section II IATA-DGR packing instructions 966-967 and 969-970
- Excepted Quantities (UN numbers matched with E1 to E5 codes according to IATA-DGR)
Note: Biological substances category B (UN3373) and genetically modified organisms (UN3245) can only be shipped with DHL Medical Express. Details are available on the product page DHL Medical Express.

A temporary surcharge, which allows us to cover operating cost increases due to an emergency situation out of DHL's control. Change in market dynamics and air capacity availability is reflected through regular price adjustments.
REMOTE AREA SURCHARGE
DHL Express strives to provide an extensive delivery network. We will continue to make transport to worldwide remote areas possible.
Whether a Remote Area Surcharge will be charged for your delivery or pickup address, can be checked via the following link. This surcharge applies to our Time Definite products (worldwide and in the EU) as well as to DHL EXPRESS ENVELOPE and DHL ECONOMY SELECT.

ELEVATED RISK SURCHARGE
For shipments to countries or territories affected by continuous war, riots or danger through terrorism.
This currently applies to the following countries: Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, Mali, Niger, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Ukraine.
RESTRICTED DESTINATION
When shipping to or importing from a destination country that is subject to certain trade restrictions imposed by the UN Security Council or national laws such as the European Union's EEAS or the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), a surcharge will apply.
This currently applies to the countries Eritrea, Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Democratic Republic Of Congo, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Syria and the Central African Republic.
OVERSIZE PIECE
A fixed surcharge is applied to every piece, including a pallet, with a single dimension in excess of 120 cm.
OVERWEIGHT PIECE
A fixed surcharge is applied to every piece, including a pallet, that exceeds a scale or volumetric weight of 70 kg.
OVER HANDLED PIECE SURCHARGE
For each pallet of a shipment that cannot be stacked due to its shape, contents, packaging or shipper's instructions.
PAPER INVOICE
Surcharge for paper invoices.
ADDRESS CORRECTION
Surcharge for shipments that could only be delivered after correcting the delivery address.
DATA ENTRY
Surcharge for data entry of manual waybills by DHL Express.
CLEARANCE DATA MODIFICATION
DHL may add or modify data declared to Customs Authorities for clearance purposes such as declared values, classification of the goods, importer details, based on documentary evidence gathered from or confirmed by the Importer or Exporter and only upon request by customs authorities or at the request of the Importer/Exporter.
DANGEROUS GOODS
Transport of dangerous goods via air and road transport according to restrictions and availability in the consignor's country.
