Our Path to Reducing CO₂e Emissions in Parcel Shipping

DHL Group has been investing for many years in reducing CO2e  emissions across transport operations, delivery activities and at our facilities. It operates Germany's largest electric delivery fleet, already provides reduced-emission delivery on more than 60% of delivery routes in Germany, and continues to expand reduced-emission transport solutions while developing energy-efficient facilities. For example, new delivery centers are equipped as standard with photovoltaic systems, heat pumps and intelligent building automation. Since September 1, 2026, GoGreen Plus* has been included for private customers for national shipments and for the domestic leg of international shipments within Germany.

*GoGreen Plus is a value-added service to a Deutsche Post and DHL shipment contributing to decarbonization measures within Deutsche Post and DHL's logistics network. By using alternative fuels and technologies, Deutsche Post and DHL reduces the usage of fossil fuels in the mode of transport and in buildings used for GoGreen Plus shipments. This does not necessarily mean that the specific shipment is physically transported with vehicles or handled via facilities using these fuels or technologies. Further information, e.g. on concrete decarbonization measures, is available at www.GoGreenPlus.de.

Send small packages and parcels including GoGreen Plus*

When you send a DHL parcel, GoGreen Plus* is automatically included. No additional selection is required. GoGreen Plus* supports additional measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions within the DHL Group logistics network, including:

  • The use of alternative fuels (e.g. Sustainable Aviation Fuel in international air transport)

  • The use of electric delivery vehicles

  • Further emission-reducing measures throughout the DHL logistics network

Digital delivery notifications reliably replace the paper notification card traditionally left in your mailbox. You will be informed immediately by email and through the Post & DHL App where you can collect your delivered parcel, even if you are not yet at home. Simply present the email at the postal outlet or use it to collect your parcel from a Packstation.

With the introduction of GoGreen Plus*, DHL focuses on measures that reduce greenhouse gas emissions directly within its own logistics network.

GoGreen Plus* is already included for all shipments sent by private customers and is increasingly being used by companies shipping DHL parcels. For this reason, a separate GoGreen Plus* receiver service is no longer required. The option was discontinued for new customers on September 1, 2026. Existing customer subscriptions will continue until the end of their individual subscription period, but no later than August 31, 2027.
