As part of the ongoing digitization and harmonization of customs processes, the electronic transmission of customs data for international shipments is becoming increasingly important. This development aims to make the shipping process more efficient and to optimize the handling with customs authorities.
Furthermore, as a carrier, we are obligated to consider all legal changes in the transmission of information and data and to ensure compliance. This includes the requirements of the NCTS Phase 5 shipping procedure, which must be adhered to for DHL Paket International shipments to Switzerland and DHL Europaket shipments to all customs destinations since January 21, 2025.
To ensure that shipments with incomplete or incorrect electronic customs data can still be processed, DHL has implemented appropriate measures for the post-processing of this data. This post-processing or preparation of electronic data takes place if the required information is available in another form, for example, through documents attached to the physical shipment.
Starting from July 1, 2025, we will charge a fee for each post-processed and successfully exported shipment. This allows us to avoid returns and support you in your international business activities.
Currently, we are conducting customs data post-processing for the following products and destination countries where the NCTS Phase 5 data requirements apply:
