Frequently Asked Questions about Preferred Day

Preferred Day is a service provided by DHL Paket that allows the recipient to postpone the delivery of parcels by up to six working days. The service can either be arranged by the sender during shipment preparation (subject to a fee) or by the recipient during the parcel’s transit (free of charge).

As a recipient, you can also permanently set a delivery day in your DHL customer account under My Data & Services, specifying on which weekdays all your future parcels should be delivered. This service is free of charge.

The delivery of a shipment can be postponed by up to six working days. Sundays and holidays cannot be selected.

Once you have selected one or more days of the week, they will be activated within 24 hours.

All incoming, shipments adressed to your home will be stored for you from that time on and will only be delivered on the days you have chosen.

Once the delivery date for a shipment has been specified, it can no longer be changed. If you have defined weekdays permanently in your DHL customer account, you can change these days at any time under My Data & Services. The modification is active after 24 hours.

  • Bulky goods
  • Letter mail
  • Warensendungen
  • DHL Kleinpaket
  • DHL Retoure
  • Shipments addressed directly to a Packstation or branch
  • Shipments from competitors
  • DHL Express shipments
  • DHL 1- and 2-man handling

If you want to set a delivery day for a single parcel, you can select it directly via shipment tracking or in the delivery notification.

If you would like all your future parcels to be delivered on specific days, you can easily set your preferred delivery days permanently in your DHL customer account.
