The DHL Delivery Notification is a message that informs you free of charge about the expected delivery time of your parcels.

If you won’t be at home at the specified time, you can adjust the delivery of your shipment directly in the delivery notification!

Simply set a drop-off location for your shipment or have it delivered to a neighbour - or redirect your parcel to a nearby DHL retail outlet or Packstation. We will deliver your shipment in the way that suits you best!

You will receive the delivery notification as a registered DHL customer for all shipments addressed to your home address. Shipments to retail outlets, Packstations, as well as small parcels or returns are excluded from the delivery notification.

In the parcel notification we only let you know an estimated delivery time. Unfortunately, from time to time this cannot be kept.

Below are some possible reasons why your parcel might arrive at a later time or the next day:

  • Unexpected problems occurred during delivery, e.g. poor weather conditions, traffic congestion, an accident, illness, etc.
  • During sorting, the required information could not be read or assigned and the shipment had to be processed manually.
  • Due to defects in the outer packaging (e.g. tears in the cardboard), your parcel had to be repackaged for safe onward transport.

Please understand that it is not possible to have direct contact with the deliverer or to accelerate the shipment through customer service.

If you want to receive delivery notifications for your DHL shipments, simply sign up for free here. After successful registration, you will receive delivery notifications for parcels addressed to your home address.

To do this, simply provide your Postnummer with all your orders. This way, you’ll receive a delivery notification, and the shipment will automatically appear in your shipment overview and in the Post & DHL App. Just enter the Postnummer in the "Additional Address Information" field when placing your next online order. You can find your Postnummer on your customer card, in your customer account, and in the Post & DHL App.

For sender details to appear in delivery notifications, this information must be provided to us in advance by the sender. In some cases, DHL may not have this data or there may have been technical issues during transmission, so the sender’s name is not always displayed.

Which services you can book for your shipment in the delivery notification depends on various factors.

Certain services can only be booked up to a specific point in the shipment process. These typically include redirection to a retail outlet or Packstation as well as changes to the delivery day. Some services are also only available for certain products and in specific regions. For example, cash-on-delivery shipments cannot be delivered to a drop-off location.
