No. In the "Ship" function, the routing code data is automatically imported and is available directly from the validity date. If you use a different shipping software or are a programmer, you can download the current routing code data at the bottom of this page and integrate it into your system.
With the routing code data, you can enrich your recipient information and optimally prepare your shipments for shipping with DHL. Download the latest version and install the routing code information in the shipping software you use. The routing code data is provided in updated form once a quarter. You can download the latest version at the bottom of the page.
The routing code information is updated every three months, at the end of the first month of a new quarter (end of April, end of July, etc.). In preparation for the new version, we always provide you with a new version at the beginning of the month in which the version becomes valid.

- Check for postal deliverability for the entire federal territory
- Enables automated processing of shipments in the parcel centers
Since version 01/2025, the additional files INT.DAT and AUSPC.DAT are no longer provided with the routing data. Users of the ‘Versenden’ function do not need them. The two files are only used in individual cases when the routing data is used purely offline. In this exceptional case, please contact info_dfc@deutschepost.de.
In order to offer you the official municipality names in the Sorbian settlement area in Brandenburg and Saxony in Sorbian spelling, we will provide an additional file KG-SORB.DAT since version 03/2021. It has the same structure as the KG.DAT file. Due to the special characters it contains, it is delivered in UTF-8 format. Please note this different formatting if you use this file.
