Frequently asked questions about using the DHL customer account

Sharing your customer account is only possible to a limited extent. Generally, your DHL customer account and the specified services, with the exception of a filing location and neighbour, are personalised and therefore not valid for your family members.

However, the filing location and neighbour services, are an exception, so you can use these together with your family. You can register up to four other persons living in your household as co-users for your filing location and deposited neighbour of your customer accoung, provided you have obtained their consent in advance. 

Of course, adult family members can also register separately for the DHL customer account and thus benefit from all services and advantages.

Under 'Address book', you can import your existing address books from other sources, such as Outlook, via 'Import addresses' located next to the search field.

First export your addresses from the respective source (e.g., Outlook) as a CSV file and save it on your PC. Then click on 'Browse' and select the CSV file.

By clicking on 'Import addresses', you upload the addresses into your address book

Note: This function is only displayed after your address book has an entry.

Connect eBay account

As an eBay seller, you can easily link your account to DHL Online franking. Simply import the addresses from your eBay account and conveniently ship with Online Franking.

Especially comfortable: Your sender address is already pre-filled when you are logged into your DHL customer account.

A few weeks after the delivery of your shipment, the entry in the shipment overview is moved to the archive. To view the archived shipments, simply click on the "Show archive" slider at the end of your shipment overview. All previously delivered parcel items from the last 80 days will be listed there. Please note that registered mails are generally not displayed in the shipment overview.

Note: The archive slider is only visible if there is also an item entry in your archive.

Yes, shipments that should no longer be displayed in the application can simply be removed from the list under "My Shipments". To do this, click on the three dots next to the respective shipment number and select the "Delete" option.

To add the corresponding parcel to the list again, enter the shipment number in the field provided.

Under the menu option "Address Book" you can create your personal address book. For this purpose you can save a new entry in your address book by clicking "New address". You can also create an address with Packstation or postal outlet addressing by simply selecting "Delivery to a Packstation" or "Delivery to a postal outlet" under "New address". Once you have created an address book, you can transfer addresses directly from there to online franking.

Through "Export addresses" you can export your created address book in different formats to use it beyond your customer account.

To do this, simply select the desired format, e.g. Outlook (CSV) and then go to "Export addresses".

Your address book will then be displayed in the desired format in order to save it on your computer.

The expected delivery date indicates when your parcel will be delivered according to the latest information.

Usually, the expected delivery date is displayed at least one day before the shipment is delivered.

You are not at home on the scheduled delivery day? Postpone the delivery of the shipment by a maximum of six days to your desired day or select a filing location or neighbors for this shipment.

If you specified a filing location or neighbour in your DHL customer account, your shipment will be stored there for you in your absence.

Based on the address we could not assign this shipment to your customer account and the sender did not send a post number electronically to DHL.

If you know the sender's tracking number, you can manually add it to your overview. To do so, log in to your DHL customer account and enter the shipment number in the search slot on the start page.

If you forgot the answer to the security question, you have the option of resetting the password for your DHL customer account by using an alternative verification procedure (e.g. SMS-TAN procedure). To do this, click on "forgot the answer?" below the input field provided for the answer to the security question and follow the further instructions. 

Based on the information you have entered in your customer account, you will automatically be offered an alternative verification procedure in the next step.

You can update your customer data at any time in your customer account at www.dhl.de. To do this, click on your name in the top right-hand corner and then select "My Data and Services".

You will need your e-mail address and password to change your data.

Important: To change your mobile phone number or e-mail address, you need access to the e-mail address you have previously entered so that you can confirm the change.

Your name has changed?

If your name has changed, we need an official proof of the name change (e.g. a scan of an authenticated document) to update your data. Please use the upload function of our contact form for this purpose.

Important: If the full name and the post number do not doubtlessly belong to the same customer account, the delivery person unfortunately cannot place the shipment in the Packstation. This means that delivery to family members using a common post number is not possible.

You can edit the saved addresses in the address book of your DHL customer account at any time on dhl.de. To do this, simply click on the corresponding icon next to the address in the address list. There you can edit the entry and save it again.

Please note that this function is not available in the Post & DHL App.
