Of course! To do so, please create a customer account in the Deutsche Post online shop and register there as a self-declarant. You can update your recipient information at any time or remove your self-declarant registration again.

Customs clearance for dutiable letters and parcels must then always be completed by you personally at the responsible customs office. The delivery assignment of Deutsche Post DHL ends once the item is forwarded to the relevant customs office.

The disbursement fee of EUR 7.50 does not apply in this case.

Creating a customer account does not come with any obligations. You may use it solely for managing your self-declarant status.

However, you can also use the account for other services offered in the Deutsche Post shop without the need for an additional registration.

Deutsche Post performs customs clearance on your behalf and advances the applicable customs duties until delivery.

The delivery agent or retail staff will then collect these customs charges together with the disbursement fee from the recipient.

The disbursement fee covers the costs and administrative effort incurred during postal customs clearance so that your shipment can be delivered.
